Volunteer Spotlight- Karen Wells

Unionville Presbyterian Church
Tuesday, November 6, 2018

Our Fall volunteer spotlight recognizes the dedication of Karen Wells, volunteer coordinator for Unionville Presbyterian Church. She has been involved with Family Promise since the beginning of the program in 2015 and shared that her church was the first to host a family.

Like most volunteers, Karen was very demure when talking about her about her role as the coordinator.  “My role is the easier and the simplest component of the Family Promise host team, referring to the more active roles others take on preparing and serving food in addition to preparing rooms, " but every little bit helps she added.  Karen became a volunteer at the urging of her "pew mate" Sue Minarchi, Executive Director of Family Promise. She stated that Sue often talked very passionately about the program and so she was more than happy to get involved--even if in a very small way.

What she loves most about her involvement in Family Promise is hearing the success stories of the families. Karen is married with 3 adult children and has lived in the Unionville area for over 30 years. Karen is employed as a Director of Finance.
